WCNB Description:
"The wooden structure 1/3 mile below you marks the site of the William Edwards cabin, which served as General Price's Headquarters. It was there that Price, affectionately known to his men as 'Old Pap,' first heard about Lyon's attack. Abandoning his breakfast, of cornbread, lean beef and coffee, he quickly 'galloped off' to rally the 'panic stricken' troop fleeing from Bloody Hill. Within moments, Price ended the 'dreadful confusion' and had State Guard units moving back into battle. As the fighting settled into a brutal pattern, Price's combat experience soon began to make a difference. Price moved from one weak point to the next, directing rather than leading his men. But, like Lon, Price did not lack for inspirational courage. Even though several bullets pierced his clothing, and he received a painful side wound, 'Old Pap' kept cool while his men made things hot for the Federals on Bloody Hill."
