Stop 30: Curtis HQ, October 22
[Waypoint 39.076579 -94.538696]
This tour stop is located at corner of E. 27th Street and Cleveland Avenue. This is the approximate location of the field headquarters around 9:00 a.m. on October 22, 1864. Because of urban development, there’s not a whole lot to see at this location. From here Curtis had pretty good visibility because this location was on a ridge. He also had ready access to all parts of the battlefield. This road headed southwest to Westport. Near this location, a road went northwest to Kansas City. Just west of here was the intersection with the Historic Harrisonville Road which headed south to other parts of the Union line.
